Starting in the mid-19th century, the family-owned business was renowned in Europe for its custom-made trunks, and its hand-painted Chevron patterns became instantly recognizable among the fashion. The malletier ’s history can actually be traced all the way back to the 18th century, when Pierre-François Martin founded trunk-makers the House of Martin.
