People kept asking if it was a Rolex. I think that's one of the issues; its TOO similar to the Submariner, and there's really no history nor inspiration behind it. To get the vintage feel, get the ones with acryllic. Prices are rising, within the last year I've seen the buying price of these rise 30%-50% (but that's just my experience YMMV). What I love about the 14060 M is that it is truly the last of its kind. With the aluminum bezel and the pinhole lugs it is a direct descendant of the 5513 and 5512 series. It’s the end of the classic sub with the the Parachrom advantage. What I love about the 126040 is the balanced dimensions against the 114060 and the maxi cases.

Last of their breed, Rolex parts, and you can still get them at k - k depending on where you look. Having had similar deliberations, I opted for two subs instead instead of one 14060M. Mine are of the same family, but smaller; Tudor Subs (36mm) 75090 black and 75190 blue (per my pic, there’s also a choice of steel bezel).
This period of 1990 to 1997 is the last of the Tritium dials. The recommendation is based on the aesthetics of Tritium lume and the future value considerations even though these dials span the most years of this Submariner version. *The Tritium 14060 is as close to the previous 5513 version aesthetics as you can get.
Plus points for both watches here. Submariner: Waterproof to 300 meters, unidirectional rotating bezel, automatic movement, hacking seconds hands, screw down crown and COSC certification. Speedmaster: Chronograph, tachymeter and a 52 hour power reserve (Omega quotes 40). OK, so a few more points to the Rolex! Costs. Sep 1, 2012
The Rolex submariner, and the Sea Dweller both have the same flaws as a modern tool watch. The hands are too small and are less legible than either the Omega 300M diver, or the PO. The small hands make it harder to read at a glance under water. The bezel on a modern Rolex rotates far too easily compared to an Omega. People kept asking if it was a Rolex.
